Not so busy

I came back from Spain almost two weeks ago. Stockholm is in the middle of an unexpected late-summer heatwave – it feels hotter than Spain but the air isn’t as fresh.

Aila was ill when we went to Spain, came home really sick and is now in bad shape. Some kind if virus, is all the doctors can say. High fever, aching bones, mood swings, extremely tired.. I worry and do what I can but that isn’t much.

Saturday I went swimming at Husbybadet for a change. To get there I took the subway past Kista, which used to be called the Swedish Silicon Valley. I never did like it out there, so I don’t really care that the place now has a slightly japanese future-that-used-to-be feeling.

On the wrong side of the tracks from Kista is Husby, where the first language you hear won’t be Swedish. I ate a Persian cake, acted like a blonde submarine in the pool, played in the adventure-bath and ended up discussing global weather catastrophes in the sauna.

When I got back to the city, I stumbled into the finals of the Swedish Beach Volleyball Tour. They were playing at Medborgarplatsen (in the middle of Stockholm). Great athletes, lots of fun!

Sunday I did some running, 90 well-paced minutes in the sun. I love running with a pulse-watch: I just stay in my zone and enjoy whatever happens.

Later, as I was walking around in the sun, I met an old aquaintance who told me the famous Swedish Cullberg Ballet would perform in a park. I’ve always liked them, so this was an unexpected treat.

I left the Military project. Unfortunately I can’t write much about it – at least not until the project is finished.

Right now I’m supporting old customers and do the usual part-time stuff for my employer: research, arranging courses&lectures, demos etc.
